The Times published a report in mid-2020 on Neom City, the dream city of Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, which he launched during his announcement of the economic Vision 2030.
The people of Al-Huwaitat tribe lost one of them, as the Saudi authorities killed him treacherously because he refused to forcibly leave his home and his land, and save the history of his ancestors in this place. The authorities considered refusal and criticism for their actions a crime worth killing, which is the fate of anyone who opposes the ruling family, just like Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi who was killed in his country’s consulate in Istanbul.
The report questioned the feasibility of the project, how beneficial it is to the Saudi economies, and whether this project would really achieve the crown prince’s illusion of changing and diversifying sources of income for Saudi Arabia instead of completely relying on oil, only source for that country.
Al-Huwaiti’s killing revealed many surprises, most notably that he declared -on a video of him on social media- his rejection of the regime’s arrogance in usurping the land and the house and forcibly displacing citizens for the young boy’s dreams.
He also expected being killed at the hands of the Saudi authorities, saying: “Don’t be surprised if they accuse me after being killed of terrorism and take pictures of me with arms next to me in my house later”.
The Saudi authorities did what he said and opened fire on Abdul-Rahim Al-Huwaiti and killed him. Furthermore, the pro-government media reported that Al-Huwaiti opened fire first on the security men who went to arrest him without resistance as if the arresting is a right of the authority even if illegal. Objection. They accused Al-Huwaiti of terrorism, and that he had camped inside his house, was hiding behind sandbags, and did not respond to the calls of the security men and one of his brothers to surrender himself.
The authorities also announced that when the security men went to arrest Al-Huwaiti, they found a number of weapons inside his home.
The report stressed that Saudi Arabia has been going through a dark tunnel since Mohamed bin Salman assumed the mandate of the Covenant, due to the blood-shedding of everyone who opposes his views or orders, or criticizes his dreams, which are pure fiction.
According to the report; the NEOM project, which is supported by the Kingdom’s sovereign fund due to the lack of investors in it, is still surrounded by many doubts, especially given the ongoing war between Saudi Arabia and Russia and the United States and the fierce competition about it, as well as the spread of the Coronavirus, which forced countries to close everything, which leads to a sharp decline in oil prices.
The report added that foreign investors are sarcastic about Neom considering it “as a fantasy, especially since the prince wants it to be the center of virtual reality industries, and to contain flying cars, robots servants, and a tourism development plan with Jordan and Egypt, and facial recognition technology can monitor and chase anyone wherever he goes. “
Tyrant regimes often think that the blood of peoples has no value, but history proves otherwise, and the reality of the kingdom and the decline of its role and its economy prove it.
