The executive managers of the Neom City project, launched by Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman in his Vision 2030, which he said will change the economy of Saudi Arabia in the coming years; were wondering about their future life in the desert and the future of their children’s education, friends and social life, as they have not seen any achievements in that city other than being a new city, with some outlets and shopping centers for the tourists.
As for the promise of the Crown Prince in NEOM it was pure fantasy, thus proving that NEOM is nothing but a dream for the Crown Prince and a nightmare for the people who got financially drained after the Crown Prince announced the cost of the project, which amounted to 500 billion dollars that are taken from the budget of the Kingdom’s Sovereign Fund.
In an interview with “Bloomberg” after the killing of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul, the Saudi crown prince said about Neom that “it is the first city in the region that we will call Neom Rivera, most of the employees will move there, and it will exist in 2020, and I am pressing to complete it in 2019”, as he explained in the same interview, that 12 cities will be built in five years.
He spoke of a surprise in February 2019, but nothing happened unless he meant a decline in the Kingdom’s income, and the delay in NEOM’s achievement.
Al-Huwaiti’s blood
International and local search engines for the NEOM city project will always across by the story of the killing of the Saudi citizen, Abdul Rahim Al-Huwaiti, who came out in a video and announced the authorities’ intention to kill him in his house for refusing to leave it, or leaving his lands and obeying the decision of forced displacement of the Al-Huwaitat tribe which lived there for more than eight centuries.
Seeing the authorities’ criminality and brutality in killing a peaceful citizen in his home and then accusing him of terrorism, and seeing the desert of Neom which has no flying or self-propelled cars, one will understand that the mindset which accused citizens of terrorism is not very different to prince’s promises to develop the kingdom, enrich its people and revive its economy.
It is all nothing but false promises and false accusations.
